Dr Saamragye Srivastava, Sightsavers Fellow 2022. Dr Saamragye completed her post-graduation from Subharti Medical College, Meerut, U.P. Born and brought-up in Delhi, she is an only child. Her father is a doctor and mother a homemaker. She is an enthusiastic learner and ambitious to excel in her profession. She believes that everyone in the world has something to teach irrespective of their title. Her grandmother lost vision in one eye due to childhood illness and this inspired Dr Saamragye to choose this profession. Her grandmother’s life journey has taught Saamragye to deal with all adversities of life while being compromised for sight.
Dr Reshma Sonowal completed her MS from Assam Medical College and Hospital. As Sightsavers fellow she has completed her training at ICare Noida and posting at Bhawanipatna Odisha. Dr Reshma from Assam is the first-generation doctor in her family. She has a younger sister who is pursuing post-graduation and her parents are retired government officials (father- police dept and mother- school teacher). Her areas of interest include community outreach and education. Dr Reshma is always eager to learn more and challenge herself to improve each day. She likes to play guitar during spare time. She loves traveling and exploring new places. Traveling gives her an insight into various aspects of the society and cultures and is an opportunity to meet new people and learn new things. According to her, being a doctor is an empowering, liberating and rewarding profession. It gives her confidence and a purpose to work for the community.
Dr Uma Meena
Experienced comprehensive Fellow at Sightsavers India with a strong foundation in ophthalmic surgery and patient care. Proficient in phacoemulsification and SICS, and skilled in diagnostic techniques. Notable achievements include reaching the underserved rural communities and enhancing their quality of life through cataract surgeries. I have successfully trained postgraduate students in surgical techniques and participated in the Rapid Assessment of Avoidable Blindness (RAAB) Survey.
My career goal is to continually enhance my surgical expertise in the field of ophthalmology and provide the highest standard of care.
