📚 Why This Fellowship Matters

India’s non-fiction tradition—spanning centuries and dozens of languages—holds invaluable insights into its democracy, society, environment, and history. Yet much of this knowledge remains inaccessible to those who don’t read the original languages. The NIF Translation Fellowship changes that.

By supporting meticulous, thoughtful translation, NIF ensures that regional scholarship becomes national knowledge—and national knowledge becomes global conversation.
